I. Core Functions
Support rollers bear the weight of the kiln cylinder and its internal materials. A large kiln cylinder, often dozens of meters long and several meters in diameter, along with filled materials, can weigh hundreds or even thousands of tons. The rollers’ rolling motion reduces friction, ensuring the cylinder rotates smoothly. This enables consistent material movement and heat transfer inside the kiln, which is essential for process stability and product quality.

II. Structural Components
🔹 Roller Body: Made of high – quality cast or forged steel, it withstands heavy loads. Heat – treatment like quenching on its surface boosts hardness and wear resistance, extending its lifespan.
🔹 Bearing System: Rolling bearings, chosen for their low friction and high efficiency, allow the roller to turn easily. Seals protect the bearings from dust and materials, maintaining a stable lubrication environment.
🔹 Shaft: Connecting the roller body and bearing, the shaft is made of quality carbon or alloy steel. Treatments like quenching and tempering enhance its strength and toughness, ensuring it can handle complex stresses.

III. Types
By Arrangement:
Parallel Sets: Placed in the kiln’s straight sections, they evenly distribute the cylinder’s weight.
Trough – shaped Sets: Used in curved sections or areas where material flow direction changes, their shape adapts to the cylinder and guides materials.

By Function:
Load – bearing Rollers: These are fundamental, bearing the main weight of the cylinder and materials.
Self – aligning Rollers: They automatically correct the cylinder’s running position when it starts to deviate, preventing equipment malfunctions.

IV. Maintenance
Regular Checks: Professionals should routinely inspect for smooth roller rotation, normal bearing temperature, and absence of abnormal noises. Any issues should be addressed promptly.
Lubrication: Following the manual, proper lubrication of bearings is crucial to reduce wear.
Cleaning: Keep the rollers and their surroundings clean to prevent impurities from entering the bearings.
Function Testing: For self – aligning rollers, regularly verify their alignment function.

V. Common Faults and Solutions
Wear: Minor wear can be ground, but severe wear requires roller replacement to maintain kiln operation.
Bearing Damage: Caused by factors like poor lubrication, overloading, or seal failure, damaged bearings need replacement. Also, address the root causes.
Deviation: Adjust the roller position to correct the cylinder’s track. Check and optimize cylinder installation and material distribution.
