Our team recently carried out the insitu grinding on non tk kiln in one of cement plant in India.
1. Kiln Tyre and support rollers – Convex and concave surface wear completely removed more than 6mm with kiln operating at 5.0 RPM.
2. Tyre thrust face – Multiple circumferential marks were observed on the tyre thrust face. Tyre Thrust face had developed convex profile by around 2.0mm across width. Circumferential grooves and convex profile completely removed after grinding.
3. Thrust roller face- Before grinding major out-of-roundness & flat marks was on the thrust roller surface. A step of around 3mm was formed at the bottom end of thrust roller face. Same was causing major fluctuation in HTD pressure & vibration at feed support bases during kiln operation. Due to major flat mark at one location jerking phenomenon observed and at the same time vibration and HTD pressure variation was on higher side.

I think it is better to use graphite blocks for continuous lubricating the tyres of the kiln prebenting any deformation during normal operation.
